It was an overcast day, but not that cold, at least in the morning, so I took a nice walk to Islands Brygge. It was a really nice walk, and I wrote a lovely narrative in my head about rain, overcast days, the nature of ideas in my head, and other passing thoughts, but all my creative energy was exhausted by the time I got on the metro, thus remaining in my head and not on paper, so I am afraid I will not be sharing it. It was fairly nice, too, I believe.
This Friday’s fun? The Experimentarium. It’s a hands-on science center, reminiscent of the one I grew up with in Phoenix or the Museum of Science in Boston, but either because I’ve been to the former a million times or because Denmark’s really was more experiment based, I think this one was even more fun. Experiments/activities included lots of things about your body (I am one of 4 people with the same 9 genetic characteristics of the 60 some thousand people who have done the experiment – and I think I would be less, except their choices of hair were “dark brown, light brown, chestnut, dark blonde, light blonde, platinum blonde, black, red.” Really? One choice for red? My hair color was quite a far cry from their example. Obviously, I took their disregard of the shades of red as a personal insult ;-D), lots and lots of mirrors, logic puzzles, music, a green screen, a lie detector test, and gigantic bubbles. We were there until closing, and probably could have spent longer there.
Fun with logic puzzles
Fun with mirrors
Fun with infrared
More fun with mirrors
And best of all, fun with bubbles!
From there we headed to the Polish guys’ house, at which more Polish lessons ensued. I got smart and realized that maybe learning Polish by spelling everything phonetically and getting very confused by Polish spelling was not the smartest idea. So I decided I needed to have a semi-structured lesson instead of my “how do you say this?” previous structure. I now know the pronunciation of the alphabet, and thus the words I already knew make so much more sense now. Hurrah for realizing the benefits of being logical!
